Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his website that the odds of Antonio Conte going to Tottenham Hotspur are “decreasing”.
The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has claimed that at the moment Conte is “leaning towards turning down the proposal”.
The obvious question that you would ask is why.
After all, Tottenham are a big and ambitious club, and Conte is available.
The reason, according to SkySport journalist Di Marzio, is that the former Chelsea manager is concerned about the Tottenham squad for next season.
Conte reportedly believes that there is a ‘significant gap’ between the current Tottenham side and the top teams in the Premier League.
Okay, we know that already.
After all, Tottenham could not even finish in the Europa League places in the Premier League table this past season.
Star striker Harry Kane could reportedly leave, while winger Gareth Bale is going back to his parent club Real Madrid.

As things stand, Spurs are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
But, surely, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will offer Conte a lot of money to invest.
Conte has won league titles with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, and he would not go to Tottenham just to finish in the top four.
Perhaps Levy will be able to convince Conte to come to Spurs by promising him funds and time.
