Lothar Matthaus has raved about reported Liverpool target Jamal Musiala in Marca, comparing the Bayern Munich midfielder to Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina international star Lionel Messi.
Musiala, linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, could be the next Messi, according to Bayern and Germany great Matthaus.
Matthaus has outlined what makes the 19-year-old Germany international midfielder so special.
Musiala joined Bayern in 2019 after leaving London club Chelsea and has been linked with a switch to Premier League giants Liverpool.
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reported in October 2022 that that Liverpool are interested in signing Musiala as a back-up if they are unable to bring in Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

Liverpool target Jamal Musiala compared to Messi
Matthaus said about Musiala: “He may be the next Messi. Watch out for him.
“He is an excellent player, and I am not saying it now, who is succeeding at Bayern. He is a guy who is 100% focused on football.
“He is not distracted. He is very professional, very intelligent, passionate about the game. I’ve been a big fan of him for a few years since I first saw him.”
Exciting
In our view, Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala is a huge exciting player who would make Liverpool so much better.
Being compared to Messi by a Germany great is not a joke.
It shows just how highly the former Chelsea prospect is rated in the footballing community.
Now, Liverpool may be keen on Musiala, but we do not think that they will be able to sign him anytime soon.
Bayern are not a selling club, and the German and European giants will surely not let go of such a talented player.
