Caitlin Clark looks to Luka Doncic for inspiration

Caitlin Clark has identified Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic as the NBA player she is studying most closely.

Speaking during an NBC broadcast, Clark explained what stands out about his game, saying, “Luka is amazing and incredible. I think the way he cannot only score the ball, but also the way he passes.”

“He takes up that space, and he does a really good job of keeping the defender behind him or keeping him to the side. I think that is something I can certainly learn from.”

Her comments focused on how Doncic is able to dictate games without relying on elite speed or athleticism.

Why Luka Doncic’s style resonates with Clark

Luka Doncic’s ability to control defenders through positioning and tempo is the element Clark believes can translate to her own game.

She expanded on that by adding, “He’s not the fastest or the most athletic, but he can get the defender to move where he wants him to go.”

The comparison highlights Clark’s focus on decision-making, spacing, and control as she continues to shape her influence on games.
