Kevin Campbell has warned Illan Meslier that the jump up from Leeds United to Tottenham Hotspur is ‘huge’ amid talk of a possible transfer for the goalkeeper.
The Highbury legend was discussing Tottenham’s current goalkeeping situation and whether Hugo Lloris needs replacing in between the sticks.
The 35-year-old has been Tottenham’s number one for a decade, he is the captain, but turns 36 in a few months with no sign of a replacement.

Joe Hart was a back-up not so long ago in north London, with Pierluigi Gollini being on a loan deal last season, as Fraser Forster joined during the 2022 summer transfer market on a free after leaving Southampton.
All in all, Tottenham haven’t invested in a goalkeeper that can possibly dethrone or challenge Lloris from the starting XI, but something has to give pretty soon.
Could that player come in the form of Leeds United’s number one? Well, when talk of Everton’s Jordan Pickford possibly being that guy was muted, ex-Toffee Campbell shut that talk down, before sharing his thoughts on Meslier, as he told Stadium Astro.
“Leave Jordan Pickford alone,” said Campbell. “I think you need somebody young. But you need somebody with experience.
Campbell then added about the 22-year-old: “Meslier has the experience. But, no disrespect to Leeds, the jump from Leeds to Spurs is huge.”

LLORIS’ REPLACEMENT
Daniel Levy is the one who runs Tottenham’s ship, even though he has provided the transfer keys to Fabio Paratici.
Bringing in a goalkeeper wasn’t the top priority this summer because Lloris wasn’t going to lose his place in the XI.
Plus, over the years, Spurs haven’t been the type of club to bulk up their squad with big-money signings, until some of the business they concluded recently.
Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Djed Spence all first arrived as back-up options, and some still are, so could Levy be changing in that aspect and could Spurs fans see big money splashed on a keeper by next summer?
