Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has labelled Roma’s new superstar Paulo Dybala as ‘the diamond’, as Argentina prepare for their international friendly against Jamaica on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the duo were absent as Argentina maintained their 31-game unbeaten run by beating Honduras 3-0 in an international friendly – surprise, surprise, it was Lionel Messi who stole the show.

But on Monday morning, a smiling Dybala posted a picture on Instagram alongside Romero, with the caption ‘let’s go up brother’ to which the Spurs defender responded by saying in the comments section ‘The diamond. My brother’.

ARGENTINA LOOKING FEARLESS AHEAD OF THE WORLD CUP

Lionel Scaloni’s side are looking pretty formidable heading towards the 2022 World Cup and there’s no reason why the Copa America winners can’t add to their recent success in Qatar.

This might just be Lionel Messi’s final hurrah on the biggest stage of them all and what a way to bow out than to retire from international football as a World Cup winner?

31 games unbeaten for Argentina is proof that they aren’t to be messed with, and it needs to be remembered the less-fancied Italy went into Euro 2020 with a similar unbeaten record.

But Argentina aren’t the only South American side looking to cause havoc in Qatar because Brazil also have a star-studded line-up.

Depending on how the games pan out and who draws which team during the knockout stages, it would be something if the duo were to lock horns in the semi-finals, or even better, the final itself.

That would bring back memories of the Copa America final when Argentina secured a narrow yet defining 1-0 win against their rivals, so don’t rule out the same scenario occurring, but on the biggest stage of them all.
