Tottenham Hotspur are in pursuit of a new permanent manager after parting company with Antonio Conte in March.

Plenty of names have been linked with the Spurs reins, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

We’ve also had coaches who have history with Tottenham throwing their names in the hat.

Gus Poyet recently said he’d relish the “unbelievable” opportunity to manage Spurs, adding he knows what they need.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp previously said it would be “hard to say no” to retaking the Tottenham reins.

At the time, he stressed it’s “not the money, it’s the challenge”.

Now, Redknapp has once again thrown his name in the hat, this time jokingly adding he’d love Conte’s old salary.

Speaking on the Beyond The Pitch Podcast, he said: I don’t know, it’s very open.

“Who is available? I think I’m ready, I’ll go back. I could do with that £15m-a-year, that would be very handy!”

Our view

Well, you can’t blame a guy for trying!

Obviously Redknapp mentioned that sum as that’s what Conte was reportedly getting at Tottenham.

Now, we all know the likelihood of the former Spurs boss getting the gig again is extremely low.

Admittedly, he had a great spell at Tottenham, steering them back into the Champions League.

Indeed, Robbie Keane deemed him “probably the all-time greatest man-manager”.

But let’s face it, it’s probably not going to happen.

A few weeks ago, Redknapp might’ve fancied his chances of becoming caretaker, maybe alongside Ryan Mason.

However, Cristian Stellini got the job (and was then sacked not long after), so Mason is now in interim charge again.

Now it’s just a case of getting over the line and, if they can land a top-four place, then that would be outstanding.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done at Tottenham.

Now, more than ever, Daniel Levy needs to get his appointment spot on.

The post-Pochettino era has been a series of major disappointments.

Not only that, but Spurs have also paid out a lot in compensation after sacking managers.

According to reports, Pochettino got £12.5m, Nuno Espirito Santo received £14m and Mourinho got £16m.

Clearly the salary on offer at Tottenham is high, but now it’s time they bring in someone right for them who they won’t need to pay off.
