Arsenal won’t be signing Houssem Aouar for the second summer in a row with the window due to close tonight.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are not interested in signing the Olympique Lyonnais midfielder. Moreover, no talks are even taking place between Arsenal and the French giants for Aouar.

The 23-year-old playmaker has been linked with a move to the Gunners for well over a year. Aouar is a player Arsenal supporters are eager to see join the Premier League side. However, a deal now looks dead in the water.

Instead of Aouar, Arsenal are working on signing Bologna defender Takihero Tomiyasu. As per Fabrizio Romano, a deal is likely to be announced later today for the Japanese international.

Arsenal have already made five signings this window, with Tomiyasu likely to be the sixth player to arrive in north London.

Indeed, many supporters thought Granit Xhaka would depart the club this window. However, the Swiss international instead stayed and signed a new deal with the Gunners. Fans thought Aouar could replace the midfielder at Arsenal.
