Florian Neuhaus is frustrated at Borussia Monchengladbach after a summer transfer to Liverpool fell through, but Max Eberl has told Gladbach Live he has the club’s full support.

The 24-year-old has only started five of his nine Bundesliga appearances so far this season under new boss Adi Hutter. He has also spent two games as an unused substitute already.

Neuhaus was a firm favourite of his former coach Marco Rose, who started the eight-cap Germany international 30 times over 33 appearances – missing just one game – last term.

Liverpool explored a transfer for Neuhaus after his six-goal, six-assist season for Borussia Monchengladbach under Rose. With Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg claiming Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the central midfielder and contacted his representatives.

Bild journalist Christian Falk also claimed Neuhaus wanted to move to Anfield. But the Mirror later reported the Reds passed on a £21m deal – annoying some Liverpool fans.

Now, Neuhaus is the one annoyed. Stating, via Westdeutsche Zeitung: “Maybe I would have liked more support from the club. But that’s wishful thinking in professional football.”

Monchengladbach chief Eberl responds to Neuhaus’ frustrations

Borussia Monchengladbach Sporting Director Eberl has now responded to Neuhaus’ frustrations at the Liverpool summer transfer target’s situation under Hutter.

Eberl does not consider the matter a big deal, but will speak with him on his return from international duty.

“Flo gets all the backing from us, just like all the other players,” Eberl said. “Nobody is preferred. One thing is clear: The Borussia Monchengladbach club is above all else.

“We have a performance principle here. I was happy that Flo scored his goal in Mainz and that he feels a fighting spirit. I perceive that from this statement, I can classify everything else. It is also a player’s right to be disappointed.

“It’s not a big issue for me. Something can slip out of the emotion. Perhaps Flo felt something at one point or another, wished for a different course. That’s legitimate.

“We’ll talk to Florian Neuhaus in peace when he comes back from the national team. As we always do, we will deal with it in a very matter-of-fact way.”

Neuhaus’ frustrations persisting at Borussia Monchengladbach could catch Liverpool’s eye ahead of the January transfer window.

Klopp has suffered with frequent injuries in midfield so far this season, to highlight issues with depth. So, could offer Neuhaus an escape route and fulfil his alleged dreams.
