The Evening Standard has reported that Arsenal are keen on Zeki Celik this summer.

According to the report, Hector Bellerin is ‘expected to leave’ Arsenal and the Lille right-back is being considered by the Gunners’ technical director Edu as a replacement.

The report adds that the North Londoners – and other suitors – would only have to pay £13 million for 24-year-old defender.

And here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to that rumour on Twitter today:

Lord knows that Arsenal – who finished eighth in the Premier League last season – need a lot of improvement in multiple areas.

But Celik would be a big upgrade on Bellerin.

This is a player who has just won a Ligue 1 title and therefore there’s a fresh influx of winning mentality right off the bat.

There’s also an added element of goals from the Turkish defender, who netted four times last season – three more than the Spaniard.

It’ll be difficult to pull off, with Spurs and Manchester United also reportedly in the mix.

But if Arsenal do succeed, and sell Bellerin, it’s one less area of the pitch for Edu and Mikel Arteta to worry about during the summer.
