John Terry has praised one-time Leeds United and Newcastle United transfer target, Goncalo Ramos, for his stunning hat-trick for Portugal at the Qatar World Cup.
The 21-year-old Benfica forward was brought in by Fernando Santos to replace Cristiano Ronaldo against Switzerland.
Despite the pressure of replacing such an iconic figure in the XI, and that during a very crucial knockout game, he did what he probably didn’t even dream about.

Portugal smashed the Swiss 6-1, with Ramos nabbing himself a stunning hat-trick and becoming the second-youngest player (21y-169d), after Brazil great Pele (17y-244d), to score a hat-trick during the knockout rounds of a World Cup, as posted by ESPN.
Former England defender and captain John Terry spoke about the pressure Ramos would have been under and how he deal with it, as he told beIN SPORTS (06/12/22 at 9:00 pm).
“He must have felt that pressure of replacing Cristiano,” said Terry. “That’s a big thing for a young player and he has responded so well.
“I’d like to know what went on between the two of them before the game, whether Cristiano has wished him well.”

NEWCASTLE AND LEEDS’ PREVIOUS INTEREST IN RAMOS
World Cup tax will now be kicking in with Ramos.
Before a ball was kicked in Qatar, he was a player talked about and linked to Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United before they landed Alexander Isak and Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United.
In truth, the latter still needs a striker to fix their problems because Patrick Bamford’s injury worries aren’t going away.
But it won’t be Ramos who they sign because his status would have gone through the roof after that hat-trick, as Benfica will be putting a serious World Cup-taxed price on his head if anyone comes knocking for him now.
