Rangers overcame their injury setbacks to win on a thrilling night in Belgium

Steven Gerrard has provided an update on the fitness of James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe.
Both went off during the first half of Rangers’ Europa League round of 32 first leg against Royal Antwerp.
Tavernier attempted to play on through injury but was eventually replaced by Leon Balogun, while Ryan Kent came on for Roofe in the dying moments of the first half.
Speaking on BT Sport after the match, Gerrard was unable to deliver positive news for the Ibrox faithful.
He said: “Kemar’s got another calf (injury) so that’s a concern for us.

“He’s getting too many of those at the moment so we’re going to have to look into that and maybe get him to see the right people.
“He’s very down and frustrated at the moment so that’s a blow for us.
“Obviously James going off as well – James never goes off the pitch.
“So that worries me a bit as well but we’ll look at both situations, we’ll analyse them over the next couple of days and hopefully they’re not as bad as first feared.”

It was a memorable night for the Premiership leaders in Belgium, as they came from 3-2 down to win 4-3 at the Bosuilstadion.
Kent scored the pick of the bunch to make it 3-3 seven minutes from time, before earning a penalty four minutes later which Borna Barisic converted.
Gerrard was delighted with the victory, telling BT Sport: “I think over the course of the 90 minutes we deserved to win the game. We could have scored a few more goals.
“It showed that we have got character and a lot of quality in our team.”
The second leg takes place at Ibrox next Thursday.
