Barry Ferguson has spotted an indication that Rangers supporters should brace themselves for exciting football under Michael Beale.
The 42-year-old has returned to Ibrox after being hired as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s replacement last week.
Beale previously worked at Rangers as part of Steven Gerrard’s coaching staff in Glasgow.
The Englishman faced supporters at the Gers’ AGM on Tuesday afternoon and there, he promised attacking football.
He said, as quoted by The National: “I want to take the handbrake off. I want us to really go for it in every game. We’re Rangers and we shouldn’t change for anybody.”

The new Rangers manager was speaking in the context of catching Celtic, who are nine points clear of their Old Firm rivals.
And Light Blues legend Ferguson believes that those handbrake comments bode very well for the new man’s intention in the Scottish Premiership.
He said on the Go Radio Football Show: “He said that he is going to let the hand brake off and I am sure that is what Rangers fans want to hear. That tells me that he is going to be really attack-minded because Rangers have good attack-minded players.”
The good news is that really, the Gers don’t have much to lose.
Nobody is expecting Beale to overturn this nine-point deficit in his first half-a-season in charge and that should, in theory, afford them a lot of freedom.
Clearly he’ll still be expected to win games, but by ‘going for it’, as Beale says, they have the firepower to blow away a lot of teams in this division and it’ll be fascinating to see if they can make a fist of this title race.
