Tottenham Hotspur fans feel that Hugo Lloris has taken a dig at Nuno with his comments to the club’s official website.
What’s the story?
Lloris has been vocal in the media since Tottenham’s change of manager and noticeably spoke about how Antonio Conte was going to set Spurs up with a ‘proper structure’.
“They are going to bring a new energy and new ideas of football. They are going to give a proper team structure,” he said when asked about Spurs’ new management team.
While Lloris has generally spoken very cautiously, it has been reported that Nuno wasn’t the most popular of Tottenham managers.
He was said by the Daily Mirror to have kept himself to himself and not been particularly engaging.
Nuno seemed to struggle to motivate Tottenham’s players, with the squad running the least amount of distance in the Premier League this term.
And many Spurs fans feel that Lloris’s comments were pointed in Nuno’s direction.
The correct set-up
Spurs’s potential lack of structure could also be argued to have been seen by their attacking stats.
Tottenham showed very little invention going forward under Nuno and it contributed to their poor performances.
Spurs have scored just nine goals in their first 10 Premier League matches.
However, Conte already seems to have had quite an impact in that regard.

Tottenham’s first game against Vitesse saw them win 3-2 against the Dutch side, and they put together some very free-flowing moves.
Spurs really struggled to break down Vitesse under Nuno, but they cut them apart time after time with Conte in charge on Thursday.
While there were still some defensive issues on display, the performances was highly encouraging.
And Tottenham will now be looking to carry that momentum into Sunday’s game against Everton in the Premier League.
