Some Liverpool fans on social media are feeling very relieved after it was announced that Sokratis had signed for Olympiakos.

Liverpool had been linked with a move for the Greek centre-back lately, and even though he was an experienced option available on a free, it’s clear that fans were against the idea of him signing for the Anfield outfit.

To an extent we can understand why, Sokratis wasn’t deemed good enough for Arsenal this season, being left out of their 25-man squad and released from his contract this month, and with all due respect to the Gunners, Liverpool have loftier ambitions than Arsenal.

Sokratis won’t be signing for Liverpool this month as he’s been announced as an Olympiakos player, and it’s fair to say that Reds supporters are much happier after this news emerged.

This is an interesting reaction to say the least, Sokratis is an experienced defender, and signing a player of his calibre on a six-month deal probably wouldn’t have been a bad move for the Reds, especially when you consider his relationship with Jurgen Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Liverpool fans are certainly happy that he isn’t coming to Anfield and here’s what they’ve had to say on social media…
