Connor Ronan is making a big impression behind the scenes at Wolverhampton Wanderers and will be given a chance at the Premier League outfit in pre-season, as reported by the Express and Star.
The last time Ronan made a league appearance in Wolves colours, the men from Molineux were cruising to a 4-0 win away at Burton Albion in England’s second tier.
Leo Bonatini found the net that day, while Jack Price, Alfred N’Diaye and Sylvain Deslandes were all included in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for that 2017 trip to the Pirelli Stadium.
It’s fair to say a lot’s changed since then.
Ronan, meanwhile, has played for six different clubs in four different countries over the last five years. Now 24, the Irishman finds himself at something of a crossroads. Does he stay, or does he go? Well, if the choice was Ronan’s and Ronan’s alone, it seems he would choose the former rather than the latter.
Is Connor Ronan winning Wolves over?
His confidence enhanced following a fantastic spell at St Mirren north of the border, the talented attacking midfielder is not giving up hope of a fresh start at Molineux. And it seems he’s going about things the right way, catching the eye of the club’s senior stars during pre-season training.

According to the Express and Star, some at Wolves are relishing the prospect of Ronan joining the first-team on a more permanent basis. He will be included in Bruno Lage’s 30-man squad for the trip to Spain. What’s more, Ronan is valued higher behind the scenes than fellow midfielder Bruno Jordao.
Of course, there is no guarantee that Ronan will have a part to play in the Premier League. Even if he does make his mark against the likes of Besiktas, Sporting Lisbon and Levante this summer. Per the Express and Star, Lage wants an attacking midfielder after turning his nose up at the defensively-minded Joao Palhinha.
Talks with the Iberian answer to Thomas Muller – Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos – are reportedly underway.
Whatever happens, you can bet your bottom dollar that Aberdeen will be keeping a close eye on developments.
“Connor is a terrific player,” says Dons boss Jim Goodwin, who coached Ronan at St Mirren. “I’m not going to deny the fact that I would love to work with him again.”
“I have a lot of admiration for Connor Ronan, as a player and a person. He is a terrifically talented player. He won all of the Player of the Year awards at St Mirren last season.”
