There’s growing speculation that Terence Crawford may be considering a return to boxing, despite only recently announcing his retirement.

Crawford made headlines back in September when he beat Canelo Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion, further solidifying his legacy as one of the top fighters of his era.

With a resume as complete as Crawford’s, fans started to wonder if there was anything left for him to prove. Soon after, he confirmed those suspicions by stepping away from the sport at age 38, wrapping up what had been an outstanding career.

His final bout came under the promotion of Turki Alalshikh and Dana White, giving him a taste of what the future could look like outside the ring.

Dana White has since launched his own boxing league, Zuffa Boxing, and is actively seeking big names to boost its profile.

Recently, White mentioned plans to reach out to Crawford in a few months, hoping to lure him back into the sport. But that’s unlikely to be an easy sell, with Crawford showing no interest so far in returning.

Crawford has remained involved in boxing in other ways. He was recently seen promoting the fight between Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez. During one of their face-offs, he appeared to have a run-in with Lopez’s father.

“Man, he was just doing a lot of clown stuff,” Crawford told The Pivot.

“So I said, ‘Stop doing that dumb s—‘ man. For one, I’m not fighting your son so why are you coming at me doing all these antics at me? Like I’m not fighting your son. I’m retired. Leave me alone.”

Crawford continues to stay retired despite rumors

While Crawford has been consistent in his decision to remain retired, it’s worth noting that boxing retirements are rarely permanent.

Tyson Fury is a prime example, having repeatedly stepped away from the sport only to return time and again.

With the continued rise of influencer and exhibition boxing, there’s always the possibility that Crawford could receive an offer too good to turn down.
