Scott Minto has told talkSPORT that he believes Harry Kane will not be as highly-regarded as the Tottenham Hotspur striker should be until he eventually announces his retirement.
The former Chelsea and West Ham United defender accepts Kane has not performed at his best so far this season. But the forward has the quality to deliver and has shown across his career that he can be counted on.
Kane has been struggling in the Premier League this season, with the England captain yet to score. Nuno Espirito Santo has started the 28-year-old in Spurs’ last five top-flight games, in which he’s played all 450-minutes available.

Tottenham have seen better results from Kane in their Europa Conference League fixtures, with five goals in three appearances. He also needed just 30-minutes to come off the bench and score a game-winning hat-trick against Mura last week.
Minto backs Tottenham star Kane for England record
Kane will hope his dry spell in the Premier League does not continue with England over the international break. The 64-cap Three Lions forward is now only 12 goals from matching Wayne Rooney’s all-time England record. A haul that Minto easily expects him to surpass.
“Is he in great form? Of course, he isn’t. Is he scoring as many goals as he was? No, of course, he isn’t,” Minto said. “He’s one of those players that you know, he’s done it year after year. And I’m telling you, I think he’s really underrated.
“For years, people were chasing the Bobby Charlton record for England. Gary Lineker couldn’t get there, Michael Owen couldn’t get there, Alan Shearer couldn’t get there, Wayne Rooney went one above. He’s going to be 10 above, I’m telling you now.
“It’s only when he’s finished that we’re going to look back and say what a player he was. He is that good a player, but he’s not just a #9. Probably as he’s losing more pace, not just one or two yards, then he can drop off more. But he’s that good a footballer he can do that.”

Has the international break come at the right time for Kane and Tottenham?
The international break may have come at the right time for Kane and Tottenham, given his lacklustre league return. Kane has scored in six of his last seven England appearances, only failing to net in the Euro 2020 final.
Extending his England form could ignite a fire in Kane and return to Tottenham and forget his early struggles. Although, one of his worst performances so far this term came against Crystal Palace after the last break. Cutting an almost invisible presence as Spurs lost 3-0.
