According to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Liverpool are interested in signing Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, and that is a very interesting proposition.
Not only is Neves one of the most talented midfielders in the country, signing the Portugal midfielder could also see the Reds get the best out of Diogo Jota.
Indeed, Jota and Neves have played together at Porto, Wolves and for their national team and throughout their careers, they’ve formed something of a telepathic understanding.
Just look at how Neves spoke about his partnership with Jota during his time at Wolves.
“I will try (to help him score), that is my job. It is a part of my job, I always try to do my best,” Neves said.
“We have played together for three years, I know him very well and I am really for happy for him.
“I know already the movements that he wants to do and likes to do. It makes things easier for us.
“He knows as well how I play and how I see the game so he expects the balls.”

Just imagine that pairing uniting at Liverpool where they’ll have more possession and other willing runners to stretch the defence.
Jota has improved immeasurably since leaving Wolves and joining Liverpool – his goal record shows that much, and with so many players improving under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage, there’s no reason to believe Neves couldn’t be on the same trajectory.
Neves and Jota were brilliant together at Wolves and they loved playing together, but if the pair are united at Liverpool they could be absolutely deadly.
