Arsenal have confirmed that Reiss Nelson will spend the 2021/22 season with Dutch side Feyenoord.
The Gunners announced the deal on their official website. As well as going out on loan, Nelson has signed a one-year extension with Arsenal, taking his contact with the club to 2023.
The attacker has struggled to impress Mikel Arteta since the Basque coach took over the reigns at Arsenal. Nelson hardly featured last season, with the winger even dropping back down to U-21 football for the youth side.
Indeed, a loan move to Feyenoord is exactly what Nelson needed at this stage of his career. What is more, the England youth star took the number 14 shirt with the Dutch side as revealed on Twitter.
The number is synonymous at Arsenal as the one that Thierry Henry wore at the club as the Premier League icon became the club’s record-goalscorer whilst wearing number 14.
Since Henry, Theo Walcott and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have taken the number and impressed for Arsenal. And on social media, Arsenal fans loved that Nelson had taken the shirt after Feyenoord announced his move.
