Sadiq, who joined Rangers on loan from AS Roma in the summer transfer window, led the line for Steven Gerrard’s side in their Scottish League Cup semi-final tie against Aberdeen on Sunday evening.
Rangers right-back Tavernier believes that the 21-year-old striker – who cost Roma £2 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Spezia in 2016, according to The Scottish Sun – was a handful for Aberdeen, who won the tie 1-0.
Tavernier told The Scottish Sun: “It’s obviously a massive miss to be without Alfredo. He’s our talisman up front and scores a lot of goals and assists a lot.
“Sadiq was a real handful for the Aberdeen defence. But it is a big loss to be without one of our main strikers.”

Kind words?
Sadiq is a talented and promising young striker, but the Nigeria Under-23 international striker did not have a good game for Rangers.
The 21-year-old was caught offside on many occasions, and he also went down easily inside the Aberdeen penalty box on one occasion when he could have stayed on his feet and perhaps even score.
Although the youngster tried his best, the former Spezia prospect was ineffective and could not really frighten the Aberdeen defence, like the suspended Alfredo Morelos could have.
As reported on HITC Sport, Rangers fans on Twitter were not impressed with the performance of Sadiq.
