The Saints left-back has been getting more game time under the Austrian and joins Nathan Redmond and Jan Bednarek in singing his new manager’s praises.

Southampton left-back Matt Targett has become the latest player at the club to emphasise just how much has changed at the club since Ralph Hasenhuttl took the reins.
When Mark Hughes was dismissed by Saints in early December, the team had won just three times in 22 Premier League games, and were sitting in the relegation zone having picked up one win all season.
Now, with Hasenhuttl at the helm, Southampton are out of the bottom three in 15th place and have a three-point cushion between them and the drop zone, with plenty of scope to kick on and rise up the table.
Several players who are making the difference for the team have sung the Austrian’s praises, including Nathan Redmond, whose goalscoring tally has shot right up following the managerial change, and Jan Bednarek, who was previously frozen out but is now integral to the side.
Targett is another beneficiary from Hasenhuttl’s arrival, having only made three league appearances between the start of the season and the start of December, but added a further eight after the new appointment (Transfermarkt).

“It feels great to be back in the setup – the change has been incredible,” the 23-year-old told the official Saints website. “It’s all so clear and easy to pick up what the manager wants us to do; the tactics, the video sessions and the way he speaks with us, the attention to detail is amazing.”
Targett has made 58 senior appearances for Southampton so far and was also part of the Fulham side which reached the top flight via the playoffs last season (Transfermarkt).
