The Saints winger explains why he thinks the club won’t struggle so much with fighting Premier League relegation this time round.

Southampton ace Nathan Redmond has given his opinion as to why the team is better placed to fight relegation from the Premier League this season as opposed to last year.
The Saints survived the drop last season by the skin of their teeth, all but assuring their place in the top flight in the penultimate game of the campaign after edging out Swansea City.
This time round, the south coast club has once again been struggling but, following Mark Hughes’ departure and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s arrival, there is a feeling around the club that things will go more smoothly.
Southampton’s fixture list is a little kinder and more spaced out, with games against Crystal Palace, Burnley and Cardiff coming up after fixtures against Chelsea, Leicester and Everton, plus two FA Cup clashes with Derby.
Redmond, who has found the back of the net five times in his last seven matches and has improved massively under the guidance of the Austrian, insists that everyone at the club is up for the fight just as they were last season, but outlined one key difference.

“I think taking the point at Chelsea was big and then the way we took a win at Leicester as well, we just knew leading into this period that it’s fight or flight,” he told the Daily Echo.
“Everyone is up for the fight just like we were last year. But this time, we are starting to affect games early and play games with our authority rather than just hoping for something to happen.”
At present, Saints sit 15th in the Premier League table, three points above the bottom three.
