Tottenham fans could soon see Tanguy Ndombele become a key player for Spurs after a rumour emerged from north London.
What’s the story?
Well, Spurs supporters never really got to see the best of the France international following his £53.8m move from Lyon back in July 2019.
Mauricio Pochettino – the man who signed him – was only given 14 games to work with Ndombele before he was sacked in November 2019.
Now – however – there could be a lifeline for the Frenchman.
The Guardian believe that Pochettino wants to return to Tottenham at the end of the season, amid claims from the Telegraph that Antonio Conte is leaving N17 this week following his outburst on Saturday.
Should that rumour turn out to be true, then we would expect Ndombele – who is currently on loan at Napoli – to be given another chance at Tottenham, where he could become a key player.

As aforesaid, it was Pochettino who signed the 26-year-old, parting with what was a club-record fee for Spurs at the time to sign him from Lyon.
Daniel Levy didn’t exactly give the Argentine millions to splash on new signings, so it speaks volumes that the South American decided to spend a large portion of his budget on Ndombele – clearly, he had plenty of faith in him.
Perhaps most significantly, Pochettino is a talented coach when it comes to improving those already at his disposal – instead of one who demands new arrivals regularly – which Ndombele should benefit from.
Tottenham have Ndombele decision to make regardless
Even if Pochettino doesn’t replace Conte, Spurs have to make a decision regarding Ndombele.
Napoli hold a €30m (£26m) option to buy the Frenchman on a permanent basis – according to ESPN – but seeing as he has only made six starts in Serie A under Luciano Spalletti, it feels unlikely that this option will be triggered.
Therefore – regardless of who replaces Conte – Tottenham must decide whether to give Ndombele another chance in north London, or put him up for sale.
Hopefully, Spurs decide against the latter, as the Napoli No.91 is a real talent on his day – hopefully, Pochettino can turn Ndombele’s career around if he does replace the Italian.
