Cole Palmer is one of the very few players at Chelsea who is coming out of this campaign with any sort of positivity.
The 21-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer from Treble winners Manchester City.
Despite playing for the best team in Europe and one of the best managers in the world – Pep Guardiola – he took the brave risk to move away.
Never mind joining an elite team, Cole Palmer signed on the dotted line for a Chelsea side in a world of bother and without European football to their name.
Unfortunately, that has continued under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino this season and it has now put his job under threat.
You fear where the London club would be without Palmer because his performances have been beyond ridiculous.
That was proven over the weekend when Chelsea dropped further points in the Premier League when they recorded a 2-2 draw against ten-man Burnley.
Palmer scored both goals for his side, including an ice-cool Panenka penalty.
Garth Crooks stated that the manner in which he took that spot-kick showcased his ’supreme confidence’, as he told BBC Sport.
But he also oddly slammed the player’s actions and warned actions such as that will get his ‘wings clipped’ by opponents.

“The way Palmer dispatched his penalty showed he has supreme confidence in his own ability,” said Crooks.
“But his dinked finish was bordering on ‘taking the Michael’ and players have a way of dealing with that. If he’s not careful he may have his wings clipped.”

Whilst Palmer is breezing through games for Chelsea and proving to be one of the best players in the Premier League.
He isn’t being rewarded for those performances on the international stage.
Gareth Southgate provided the Manchester City academy product with zero minutes during England’s recent friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium.
With Euro 2024 around the corner, it doesn’t bode well for the player and perhaps indicates that he won’t be selected for this summer’s tournament.
