HITC understands that some members of Chelsea’s squad have made it clear to the club’s owners that they would prerfer to see Mauricio Pochettino replaced at the end of the season.

On Saturday, the struggling London club failed to beat relegation-threatened Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Despite playing against ten men for large parts of the match, Chelsea let two leads slip and, in the end, were probably lucky to walk away with a point.

After finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table last season under three different managers – Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

The powers that be turned to ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer to turn their fortunes around, and after another summer of big spending, he hasn’t been able to push the team away from the bottom half of the table.

Chelsea are sitting 11th after those dropped points against Vincent Kompany’s side – four points behind a European place with two games in hand and also an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City on the horizon.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbal to make the final call

HITC revealed in February that the club’s football department were looking into possible replacements for the summer.

But it was the club’s co-owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali that would make the final decision.

Whilst work on a possible successor continues – HITC has also been told that some of Chelsea’s squad have spoken with the club’s top brass about their current boss and they are not believed to have been glowing in their praise of the Argentine.

Pochettino believes he can guide this Chelsea squad to glory, but there are concerns within the club over whether the squad are reacting to him.

As HITC understands that the decision has yet been made on whether to stick with Pochettino, or not.

The two-time European Cup winners face another struggling side next week when they welcome Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United to Stamford Bridge.
