Jamie Carragher has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should sign Ivan Toney if they want to beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.
The former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit believes that Arsenal need to take a chance on Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Carragher does not seem to be fully convinced that the 27-year-old England international could be a huge success at Arsenal.
However, the Sky Sports pundit thinks that Arsenal have to take a chance on Toney.
In late September, The Mirror reported that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are interested in signing Toney.
Jamie Carragher urges Arsenal to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney
The Daily Mail quotes Carragher as saying about Toney and Arsenal: “Yes he could [join Arsenal] and he is a different type of striker.
“Huge fan of his but making jump to a big club and can you not cope with the scrutiny, there’s not that expectation against Brentford.

“No doubt that the quality is there, but take Arsenal to title?
“Arsenal might need to take that chance if they don’t fix that position and the goalkeeper situation then difficult to overhaul Man City.”
My View: Arsenal could struggle to sign Ivan Toney in January
I believe that Arsenal could struggle to sign Ivan Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford in the January transfer window.
There is speculation that Toney himself wants to leave the Bees in the middle of the season.
That might well be the case, but we have to remember that he has a contract with Brentford.
Brentford are an established club in the Premier League and are not under any financial pressure to sell any of their players, especially in the middle of the season.
I believe that Arsenal are more likely to sign Toney in the summer of 2024 than in January 2024.
Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.
Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League table with 24 points from 11 matches, three points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City.
The Gunners will take on Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday before facing Burnley at home in the Premier League on Saturday.
