Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Harvey Barnes has been chatting about his admiration for Mohamed Salah.
The Leicester City winger has a lot of potential, and he says that he’s always looking for ways to improve his game.
The 24-year-old was asked if he studies any of the top players in the Premier League, and he says that Salah is one player he looks towards as something of a role model.
What’s Barnes said about Salah?
The winger responded when asked about players he tries to study.
“Yeah, of course. For me, you have to look at Salah this year and the numbers he’s been putting up. They’re not all goals where he’s dribbling and taking players on, he has scored some great goals, but if you look at his running behind and his desire to score goals, that’s what the top attackers have. You have to view yourself as an attacker and a striker, that’s something he does so well. The numbers he’s put up this year, you want to recreate those figures, and you can take bits out of his game and it will only improve you as a player,” Barnes said.

Perfect for Liverpool
Interestingly, Barnes is a player that Liverpool have looked at in the past.
He’s been touted as a transfer target, and over the summer Goal journalist Neil Jones stated that he’s a player who is really appreciated by the higher-ups at Anfield.
“One thing I do know is that when I’ve spoken to people within Liverpool’s staff and Liverpool’s recruitment team and the squad, certain names come up and they say ‘yeah he’s a good player, he’s very good’ and Harvey Barnes is one of those,” Jones said.
“He probably isn’t a player Liverpool are going to sign this summer, but it’s one of those where if you see a link with Harvey Barnes in the future, you can know for certain that there are a lot of people, including coaching staff and including recruitment staff who think he’s a very good player.”
If Liverpool do end up making that move for Barnes, he could be absolutely perfect for the Reds, especially as he’s been looking towards Mohamed Salah as a role model.
