Aston Villa may have to pay up for their reported summer target, Van der Hoorn.

The Swansea City defender, Mike van der Hoorn, has cast doubt on Aston Villa’s chances of signing him for free this summer.
The Sun reported this weekend that Aston Villa wanted Van der Horn in the January transfer window, but were quoted £10 million by their Championship rivals.
And the newspaper claims the Villans are now in pursuit of a summer deal for the Dutchman, whom they believe they could land for nothing with his contract due to expire.
But asked about his future after Swansea’s 2-0 defeat at Bristol City on Saturday, Van der Hoorn told Football Oranje: “I’m just starting to number things up in my head – what I want to do.
“I have an option in my contract, so it’s not really that I transfer free. The club has to decide if they activate that option, so it’s up to them.

“And we’re in talks about maybe a new contract. So there are a lot of things in my mind but I just have to decide.
“I have to know what Swansea want in the future, I have to know what I want and that’s how I’ll decide my future.”
Finances could dictate Swansea’s decision to renew Van der Hoorn’s contract, especially if the Welsh side fail to gain promotion.
Swansea offloaded several presumed high earners on the final day of the January transfer window, including Tom Carroll on loan to Aston Villa.
