Why Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is not the player that Liverpool should be aiming for.

Reports have been heating up in the past few days to suggest that Liverpool’s interest in Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is genuine.
However, as the Merseyside club hunt for a better alternative to Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, Strakosha is not the answer they are looking for.

Liverpool’s recent goalkeeping woes have primarily stemmed from Mignolet’s inconsistency and Karius’ lack of experience.
Mignolet, 30, has been considered, by some Liverpool fans, to have been never good enough for the club whilst Karius’ Champions League final nightmare demonstrated his inexperience.
Karius is 24-years-old and Thomas Strakosha a year younger at 23. Whilst Strakosha is undeniably a great shot stopper, with quick reflexes and an impressive big match pedigree, he is still young and inconsistent.

Perhaps not helped by Lazio’s shaky back-line, Strakosha conceded 49 goals in 38 Serie A games this season. Not only this, but the Albanian fell victim to some careless mistakes, a la Karius.
If Liverpool want to seriously mount a title challenge, they need a world class goalkeeper and Strakosha is not, at least not yet, world class.
