Alex Crook has suggested that David Moyes’ West Ham United have a ‘suspicion’ that either Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea could yet come in for Mohammed Kudus.

At the start of August, it was suggested by David Ornstein on Twitter that the Ajax star was heading to Brighton, but as of this moment, he still hasn’t secured a transfer away from the Dutch side.

After selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for a club-record transfer fee, West Ham have now started to become busy in the transfer market, with Mohammed Kudus a key target – to twist the knife in, Ajax boss, Maurice Steijn thinks the player in question will stay.

Either way, talkSPORT reporter Crook shared an insight into the Kudus situation and how the Hammers have a ’suspicion’ that the player is waiting for ‘one of the big guns’, such as Arsenal, to knock on his door before the 2023 summer transfer window slams shut, as he told talkSPORT

Well, the window slams shut next week and, if Kudus is to leave Ajax, then something needs to be done about it sooner rather than later.

Nonetheless, Alex Crook shared his thoughts on the 23-year-old, who was once dubbed a ‘top talent’ by Dutch legend, Nigel de Jong.

“I think the suspicion on West Ham’s part is that Ajax and the player himself maybe are anticipating one of the big guns might try to sign him, between now and the end of the window,” said Crook.

“Maybe Chelsea or Arsenal, are a couple of teams to keep an eye on. I think the boy himself isn’t in a hurry to sign for another Premier League team.”

Kudus would be a coup for West Ham

There was an initial freeze from West Ham once Rice was out of the door and fans were fearful that they were going to make a mess of their summer transfer window.

But patience has led to a number of top stars coming into the building, including James Ward-Prowse marking his debut by supplying two assists during the win over Chelsea.

It’s fair to say that if they manage to secure Kudus’ talents, then he would be the best purchase of the lot.
