Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting to the news that Joe Hardy has been released from the club.
The Reds announced their retained list, and one of the players who was let go was Hardy, much to the surprise of some supporters.
Once upon a time, Hardy was seen as a bright young talent for the Reds, signing for the club in January 2020 from Brentford, and his performances for the U23s caught the eyes of supporters.
Indeed, fans were quick to praise his showings for the youth team, and it’s easy to understand why. He netted nine goals in 16 appearances for the U23s, but that wasn’t deemed good enough to earn him a contract extension.
To be fair to Liverpool, they’re blessed with an abundance of talented young strikers with the likes of Layton Stewart and Paul Glatzel coming through, and at the age of 22, it’s hard to see Hardy getting to the level required to be a star for one of the best teams in the world.
Of course, the youngster could go on to prove everyone wrong, and we sincerely hope he does.
Here’s what Liverpool supporters have said about Joe Hardy’s release…
