According to The Times, Newcastle United are looking at the possibility of bringing Christian Eriksen to the club after he was released by Inter Milan.
Eriksen had to be let go by Inter due to the Serie A rules regarding his ICD (implantable cardio defibrillator) following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
Unfortunately, the rules in Italy don’t allow professional footballers to compete in with such equipment, so Inter had to let Eriksen go.
The Dane is now on the hunt for a new club, and it seems as though he could be headed to Tyneside.
Eriksen is an incredibly talented footballer, but don’t just take our word for it, just look at how Alan Shearer has praised the midfielder in the past.
What’s Shearer said about Eriksen?
Eriksen was a Premier League star in the mid-2010s with Spurs, and one performance against Everton in 2017 caught Shearer’s eye.
“He’s had a very good start to the season, Eriksen, but if you give him as much space as what Everton gave him, then he will cause you serious problems,” Shearer said.
“They just never got near him, he was brilliant; his touch, technique, control, bringing people into the game. They just couldn’t get near him, he was superb, he controlled the game from start to finish.”

If Newcastle do end up bringing Eriksen in, then it could be an absolutely incredible signing.
This is a player who has played in a Champions League final and he knows exactly what English football is all about.
We’re all praying that Eriksen will be able to return to his best after what happened at the Euros, and if he can, he could single-handedly keep Newcastle up.
