Newcastle United are interested in signing former Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, according to The Times.
The Times have reported that Newcastle, Leicester City and Brentford all are interested in signing Eriksen on a free transfer this month.
Brentford have offered the 29-year-old former Tottenham attacking midfielder a six-month contract.
Eriksen is a free agent at the moment after leaving Inter Milan because Serie A rules would not allow the Denmark international to play with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator.
Tottenham sold the Dane to Italian giants Inter for £16.9 million in January 2020 (BBC Sport).
The Times have added that Tottenham are not one of the clubs who are interested in securing the services of Eriksen on a free transfer this month.

Christian Eriksen would be brilliant for Newcastle
In our view, Eriksen would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle and would make Eddie Howe’s side better.
Newcastle are in real trouble and could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Magpies need creativity in their midfield, and Eriksen would provide them with just that.
We know how good Eriksen was during his time at Tottenham.
The Denmark international scored 51 goals in 226 Premier League appearances for Spurs.
The playmaker created 73 big chances in those games.
Eriksen is still only 29 and has been keeping himself fit by training at Swiss club FC Chiasso.
The attacker is a free agent, and the chance to play for Newcastle ahead of the 2022 World Cup finals could be very appealing to the former Tottenham star.
