Sunderland are set to miss out to Bristol City in the race for Hakeeb Adelakun.

HITC have reported how Bristol City are now confident of sealing a deal for Scunthorpe United’s Hakeeb Adelakun, and that would have to be seen as another blow to Sunderland this summer.

The Black Cats are yet to make a signing since Jack Ross came in, and they have found things difficult.

Sunderland have already missed out on a number of targets, and although Stewart Donald has insisted that progress is being made, the Wearsiders have found the transfer market frustrating so far.

Adelakun looks to be another player to opt to move elsewhere, rather than Sunderland, and he could have been a great addition to Ross’s squad.

Adelakun has proven his quality at League One level over a number of seasons, and he would have been a real threat at the Stadium of Light.

The winger possesses a great turn of pace, and has the skills to really threaten defences in the third tier.

Adelakun is still young, and has time to develop, but Sunderland look likely to have to watch him from afar now, with the attacker on the verge of a move to Bristol City.
