HITC Sport understands Bristol City are confident of signing Scunthorpe winger Hakeeb Adelakun.

Bristol City are confident of sealing a deal for highly-rated Scunthorpe winger Hakeeb Adelakun despite having a compensation offer rejected, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Adelakun is out of contract at Scunthorpe this month and with the club failing to agree a new deal with him, they will be due a compensation fee for his services.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Adelakun following his impressive performances for Scunthorpe last season, but Bristol City are in pole position for his signature.

Adelakun is understood to have met Bristol City boss Lee Johnson and is close to agreeing personal terms with the Championship club over a move to Ashton Gate.
Bristol City have had made an offer of compensation to sign Adelakun as they look to avoid having to go to tribunal, but Scunthorpe have rejected the opening offer.
The two clubs remain in talks over a compensation fee for Adelakun and it is hoped a deal could be struck before the end of this week.
Adelakun is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the Football League after impressing at Scunthorpe this season.
The 21-year-old was instrumental in helping Scunthorpe play-off semi-finals only to lose to Rotherham and Adelakun’s fine form was rewarded with the EFL’s Young Player of the Month for November.

The skilful attacker made 49 appearances in all competitions for Scunthorpe this season, scoring five goals and registering an impressive 14 assists for the Iron.
