The New York Giants are gearing up for a new chapter under head coach John Harbaugh following his exit from the Baltimore Ravens.
Success has been hard to come by for the Giants over recent years, but this offseason has seen a lot change in New Jersey.
Harbaugh has a history of winning a Super Bowl after tasting the Gatorade back in 2013, when the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers.
That is where the Giants organization want to be over the coming years and the 63-year-old is being trusted with the responsibility of improving the current roster.
The start of the new season is nearing and Harbaugh is getting to know his new players at the Giants’ training facility.
However, footage that has been shared from a recent meeting between Harbaugh and his players has not gone down well with fans across the league.
What John Harbaugh said to his New York Giants players ahead of new season
The Giants finished the 2025 season with a pitiful 4-13 record, which secured them bottom spot in the NFC East.
Harbaugh wants his men fired up ahead of the new season getting underway, with a passionate speech caught on film from the Giants’ meeting room.
“Man, good to see everybody here. Excited? A little nervous? Excited nervous, you know. Nervous like before a kick-off,” said the new head coach of the Giants.
“Standing up here in front of the New York Giants—the New York Giants—it’s an honor. There is a New York Giant sitting in every seat in this room. Wow, it’s an honor. It’s an honor to stand in front of this room right now, and I know the coaches feel the same way. Right, coaches? It certainly is an honor.
“We’ve been working hard. We’ve been working early, and we’ve been staying late getting ready for today. Today, sitting in these chairs, getting to work and getting started, is our beginning.”
This speech did not go down well with fans of NFL teams from across the league.
How NFL fans have reacted to John Harbaugh’s New York Giants speech
Thousands of NFL fans have reacted to the footage released by the Giants on Wednesday, with the response perhaps not what the organization would have hoped for.
‘Literally cringed watching this bro,’ said one NFL fan on X.
Another fan is not expecting Harbaugh to make much of a difference in New York after seeing this footage, they said: ‘This has 5-6 wins all over it’.
However, there were also some fans who believed the footage did not reflect well on the players, too.
‘I honestly think this is more of a negative reflection of the players. Yeah, it’s camp. But is there no passion?’ responded one fan.
‘Everyone literally being too cool for school,’ added another.
The Giants are going to need their leaders to step up and push Harbaugh’s new culture inside the facility ahead of September’s opening game against the Dallas Cowboys.
One fan simply replied: ‘Such a bad look’.
Whilst another fan is already expecting more disappointment from New York football following the Knicks’ success in the NBA, they said: ‘Knicks just won a chip bro you can’t let the city see this.’
