A striker reportedly offered to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal during the summer transfer window has been tipped for another monstrous goalscoring season.

According to 90 Min in June, Spurs and Mikel Arteta’s side were invited to sign Robert Lewandowski.

The Poland hitman wound up leaving Bayern Munich to join Barcelona and he’s enjoying a rip-roaring start to life in Spain.

So far, he has netted eight goals from only five outings across all competitions, including a debut Champions League hat-trick in midweek.

We’ll never know if Arsenal or Tottenham were ever genuinely in the race to sign the talismanic 34-year-old.

But what we do know is he’s going to tear up Spanish football this season and Don Hutchison has told ESPN that the player could even hit the 40-goal barrier, saying there’s a 70 percent chance.

He said: “He’s been doing it for years. Barring an injury it’s got to be 70 percent.”

Arsenal won’t be crying the blues over missing Lewandowski – if they were ever keen – because Gabriel Jesus is looking like one of the best signings of the summer transfer window.

As for Tottenham, well they didn’t sign a traditional number nine, something which perhaps debunks the theory that Antonio Conte ever wanted Lewandowski in North London to begin with.

But the Lilywhites did break their club record on £60 million Richarlison, who opened his account for Spurs in midweek with a double on his Champions League debut against Marseille.

However, Lewandowski is going to out-score both the Gunners’ and Tottenham signings this season by some distance.

Even at 34, the former Borussia Dortmund marksman remains one of Europe’s finest goalscorers.
