Speculation is mounting again about Harry Kane‘s long-term future as a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The 29-year-old is only contracted to Spurs until 2024 and reliable Bild journalist Christian Falk revealed earlier this week that Bayern Munich were interested in signing the striker next year at some point.
Kane leaving Tottenham has long been a subject of discussion and even though there hasn’t been as much talk since Antonio Conte took the reins in North London, the length remaining on his contract means it’s a topic that’ll always resurface.
Tuttosport in Italy have reported that Conte is interested in potentially signing Romelu Lukaku as a replacement if the England international does indeed leave the Lilywhites.

The report claims that despite the rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham, Lukaku – who played under the Italian manager at Inter Milan – is a ‘striker of his dreams’ and the Blues would be willing to do business if they recoup some of the £98 million spent on him during the summer of 2021.
The Belgium international had a poor first season back in the Premier League last term, with Thomas Tuchel – sacked by the Stamford Bridge outfit this week – loaning him to Inter for the 2022-23 campaign.
Good replacement for Kane?
Honestly, not really.
Conte might’ve won a Scudetto with Lukaku up front at Inter in 2021, but this is a player with a very questionable recent Premier League record.
From 278 appearances in England’s top flight, the 29-year-old has netted 121 goals.
That’s an excellent return but not for one of the world’s most expensive strikers and scoring only eight times in 26 outings under Tuchel last term doesn’t inspire confidence that he can replace somebody like Kane.
In his last 92 Premier League games for the Blues and Manchester United, he managed 36 goals which, again, isn’t an awful record, but more is expected from a £98 million number nine and it doesn’t bode well if Tottenham were to take a punt – because ultimately, that’s what it would be, a gamble.
