Stoke City are looking to finally get out of the Championship but Steven Schumacher’s side appear to have scrapped one potential transfer.

The Potters were relegated from the Premier League in 2018 and have struggled ever since.

The remarkable statistic is that Stoke City have not even finished in the top half of the Championship table since their relegation.

Despite throwing money at the cause and trying so many different managers, Stoke haven’t even managed to finish higher than 14th in the last six years.

Steven Schumacher is looking to finally take the club forward and a handful of signings have arrived.

Viktor Johansson, Ben Gibson, Eric Bocat and Sam Gallagher have all joined the Potters and more signings will be targeted in the coming weeks.

Jeremy Livolant deal off

Stoke have been looking into a new signing following Bordeaux’s demise.

The French club have been hit with a double relegation and have given up their status as a professional club.

That means players have been allowed to walk away from the club and that applies to attacker Jeremy Livolant.

Livolant only joined Bordeaux from Guingamp last summer and bagged six goals as well as seven assists last season.

The 26-year-old can play out wide or up front and his availability sparked interest from Stoke.

Pete Smith of Stoke-on-Trent Live now reports that Stoke have pulled out of a deal to sign Livolant.

It’s stated that an injury has scuppered the move as Livolant is not yet available for selection and is still recovering from an injury.

The Potters will now be moving on to other targets despite agreeing terms for Livolant to sign.

Sheffield Wednesday now face a decision

Stoke are not the only club to have taken a look at Livolant.

Reporter Darren Witcoop suggested on Tuesday morning that Sheffield Wednesday had been in the mix for Livolant’s signature too.

Stoke pulling out of the deal gives Wednesday a chance to strike a deal, but that injury may put the Owls off too.

Wednesday have been prolific in the summer window, landing eight first-team signings including Jamal Lowe, Max Lowe and Nathaniel Chalobah alongside imports Olaf Kobacki and Svante Ingelsson.

Danny Rohl and co must now weigh up whether to swoop in for Livolant or back away from his injury issues just as Stoke have this week.
