Rangers could still add some quality to Steven Gerrard’s squad this summer.

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has confirmed the club could make another quality signing during this transfer window, The Scotsman report.

The recruitment team at Ibrox have already completed seven permanent signings and a loan signing this summer, adding players such as Joe Aribo, Filip Helander and Sheyi Ojo to the squad.

With most positions in the team looking pretty solid in terms of quality and depth, there is no urgent need to rush out and make more additions.

However, the departure of Daniel Candeias to Turkey means that another signing could be on the way, with Steven Gerrard confirming it’s a possibility to The Scottish Sun.

Asked if funds were available to add yet more quality to the squad, Robertson told The Scotsman: “Yes, absolutely. Steven said that he wanted to buy another player because that is the case. It is down to the guys identifying who they might want to bring in and bringing that to the board.”

Going on to explain that Gerrard’s profile in world football has allowed them to sign a higher calibre of player than in recent previous seasons, such as Aribo and Helander, the suggestion from Robertson is that another player of that standard could be on his way before the window shuts.

If the Gers can deliver that then fans are likely going to be delighted, with the deals for that duo already going down a treat with supporters.

Joe Aribo of Rangers is seen in action during the pre season friendly match between Rangers and Oxford United at Ibrox Stadium on July 07, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Ibrox club appear to be going all out to be more competitive over the coming season having fallen short last term, despite progress from the failed Pedro Caixinha experiment being made.

With such investment, there will be expectations that Gerrard’s team can mount a credible title challenge, while winning silverware in both cups is always an aim.

Can they hold on to their most important talents and deliver another signing or two that Gerrard wants?

It’s going to be very interesting to see what the squad in Govan looks like come the end of the transfer window.
