Sunderland are playing in League One at the moment.

Speculation on the future ownership of Sunderland has been around for a while now, but Stewart Donald is having none of it, as the following posts on Twitter show.
The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, April 7, 2019) claimed that Sunderland had held talks with a mystery bidder from Malaysia (click here to read more).
The British tabloid recently reported that Sunderland owner Donald has turned down the chance to sell the club to the mystery Malaysian buyer.
On both occasions, the League One club’s owner dismissed the speculation on Twitter (click here and here to read more).
Donald has once again reiterated his stance on the Black Cats and has outlined the club’s financial situation on Twitter.

Promotion challenge
Sunderland have done well this season, and the Black Cats remain in he hunt for automatic promotion from League One to the Championship.
Jack Ross’s side are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 84 points from 43 matches, four points behind second-placed Barnsley, who have played 44 games.
