The on loan Aston Villa forward scored on his full Stevenage debut at the weekend.

Stevenage boss Darren Sarll is predicting a bright future for Aston Villa youngster Harry McKirdy, as reported by the Hertfordshire Mercury.

McKirdy, who is on loan from the Villans until January, scored a superb solo effort on his full debut for Boro on Saturday to clinch a 2-1 win at Mansfield Town.

And according to Sarll, it was a sign of things to come in the forward’s career.

“It’s pleasing for everyone to see what little Harry McKirdy can do,” the 33-year-old said. “He’s always got that moment of individual quality.

“We needed a moment of real individual quality at that stage of the game, having just got back to 1-1, to see Harry reel away was brilliant.

“It was a terrific finish, the temperament of the lad to go through on his debut and finish like that, top drawer, the lad’s going to be a good player.”

McKirdy, who missed most of last season through injury, made his senior debut in Stevenage’s 2-0 defeat at Exeter City in September and has appeared three times since, with Saturday his first as a starter.

And the 19-year-old commented: “I’m loving it here. It’s the first time I’ve been involved in first-team league football. There’s a good set of lads here and everyone’s been really good to me.”

McKirdy, who arrived at Villa Park from Stoke City’s youth set up in 2014, is under contract for another season with the Villans after this one.

And he is one of several promising attacking talents currently on Villa’s books, along with Andre Green (below) and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy.

Both were on target as the Villans’ Under-23s eased to a 4-0 win against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night, prompting some fans to plead for a first team call up for Hepburn-Murphy in particular.
