Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants James Tavernier to stay at Ibrox.

Rangers defender James Tavernier is one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership and is a star at Ibrox, and it is no surprise that Everton, Burnley and Swansea City have been linked with the former Newcastle United right-back.
According to The Mirror, Everton, Burnley and Swansea are interested in signing Tavernier from Rangers in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).
A report in The Daily Record last month suggested that the Gers could be tempted to part company with the 26-year-old right-back if they receive bids of over £4 million (click here to read more).

However, it now seems that Tavernier will stay at Rangers beyond the summer. According to a report in The Daily Record this morning, new Gers’ manager Steven Gerrard wants the former Newcastle man at Ibrox next season.
Good decision
The Daily Record has also claimed that Liverpool legend Gerrard has told Rangers’ director of football Mark Allen not to entrain any bid for Tavernier.

It is quite a smart move, as the right-back is one of the best in his position in the Scottish Premiership and would be an asset at Rangers next season.
Tavernier would be an important player in Rangers’ quest to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
