Aston Villa have made too many individual mistakes recently.
Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Sheffield United yesterday, and highlighted a key area of the game that continues to hamper his team’s progress, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Villans were 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes against the Blades, but squandered their two goal advantage, eventually having to settle for the draw – a result that leaves them in sixth spot in the table, nine points adrift of the automatic promotion places.
The west Midlands outfit have made vast improvements this season, and have lost just two of their last 11 Championship outings, but on the flip side, they haven’t won a league game in four attempts.

They are undoubtedly harder to beat this term, but individual errors seem to be costing them week-in, week-out, and are damaging their ability to win football matches.
Bruce highlighted individual errors as something that his players will have to cut out, if they are to have any chance of climbing the table, as quoted by AVFC.co.uk:
“It’s like I said last week, when you play big games and make individual mistakes there’s noting you can do about it. It’s unfortunate, but it’s human error. As a coach, the last thing you say to them is ‘keep your concentration’. We’ve made too many mistakes in games over the last week.”
Next up for Villa is a trip to Brentford on Boxing Day, and a win will be absolutely vital for them, if they are to keep the pressure up on those above them in the table.
