The Warriors weren’t able to land LeBron James, and now an NBA analyst thinks it might be time for Stephen Curry to move on.
LeBron James leaving the Los Angeles Lakers was always going to cause a seismic shift in the NBA. And the Golden State Warriors wanted to be the ones to benefit from it.
However, it didn’t quite work out, and the King is with the Philadelphia 76ers now. This means that Golden State has been left in the lurch.
Stephen Curry remains one of the league’s best players, but if he wants to collect more rings, it might just be time for him to move on. At least, that’s what one analyst believes.
Jason McIntyre says Stephen Curry should consider moving on
In four seasons since the Warriors won the 2022 NBA championship, the team hasn’t finished higher than the 6th seed.
Without LeBron, the roster is unlikely to be able to compete in a stacked Western Conference. Jason McIntyre, speaking on The Herd, explained what this should mean for Curry’s future.
“The Golden State Warriors are very clearly the biggest losers in the LeBron sweepstakes,” McIntyre said. “They put all of their eggs in the LeBron basket and came up empty.
“The NBA needs Curry in the playoffs… There’s everything to love about Steph. Except for the fact that he’s stuck on a c_____ Golden State team going nowhere.”
It’s hard to imagine Chef Curry playing anywhere that’s not Golden State. But it’s equally hard to imagine the Warriors making any noise in the playoffs. This is a precarious situation, to say the least.
Despite being 38, Curry has averaged 25.3 points and 5.5 assists per game in the last two seasons. He’s still elite, and a move to another team could be on the cards if he still wants to compete.
