Curry didn’t make a visible reaction, but he looked a little disappointed at that news. The Warriors were arguably the team that needed him the most, especially with how bare their roster already is.
Golden State are left with an average roster with almost $70 million in cap tied to injured players (Jimmy Butler, Moody). They look like a bottom-five roster in the West, and LeBron’s addition would increase their ceiling to the Play-In tournament, not the championship.

The Warriors are left with nothing to show in the 2026 offseason, not adding any notable players while being entirely reliant on James to join.
Golden State will likely accept another season of mediocrity while waiting for Butler to return from injury. Their only saving grace right now would be a major trade for a co-star, but that doesn’t look likely either after the team refused to trade Butler for Anthony Davis.
Curry knows that LeBron not joining means the Warriors are going to be among the worst teams in the West.
The lack of a reaction might just be Curry realizing that he has to prepare for another season without any realistic championship hopes.
