Stephen Curry continues to make history, once again toppling an impressive Michael Jordan record.
Stephen Curry has been in strong form this season, putting up great numbers. Even though the Golden State Warriors are struggling, Curry has been on a hot streak.
And after surpassing one of Michael Jordan’s long-standing records, Curry went one step further and broke another one of His Airness’ records.
Stephen Curry breaks Michael Jordan’s record for most 40-point games after turning 30
Against the Portland Trail Blazers, Stephen Curry had an excellent performance, scoring 48 points while shooting 16-26 from the field and a whopping 12-19 from beyond the arc.
In doing so, Curry notched his 45th 40-point game since turning 30 years old. He now has the most 40-point games after turning 30.
The previous record was held by Michael Jordan, who had scored 40+ points in 44 games. The only other active players in the NBA who come close to Curry are Damian Lillard (31) and James Harden (30).
It truly goes to show the kind of longevity and excellence that Stephen Curry has exhibited across his career.
Golden State Warriors wasting Stephen Curry’s performance
For all of Stephen Curry’s great performances, the Golden State Warriors are still struggling this season. Despite his 48-point performance, the Warriors still lost the game.
The Warriors currently have a 13-14 record, which is not good enough for a team that wants to compete for an NBA championship.
The Warriors paired Curry with Jimmy Butler with the hopes that the duo could lead the team back to the NBA Finals this season.
But the way they’re playing right now, it’s hard to see them even making it to the playoffs, as they’re currently in a play-in spot, and look set to stay there.
