Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry had a wild response to rookie Yaxel Lendeborg’s comments about playing alongside him.

The Warriors haven’t made any major offseason moves despite coming off a season where they missed the NBA Playoffs.

Their biggest addition so far in the offseason has been No. 11 pick Yaxel Lendeborg, who is already developing a relationship with Curry.

Stephen Curry makes a simple wish about his height

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry shared his reaction to rookie Lendeborg hoping that Curry’s shooting skills would rub off on him by wishing that he could grow a few inches in height.

“I hope I grow two or three inches,” he said, smiling.

Curry has decent height for a point guard at 6’3″ and is widely considered one of the best ‘short’ players in NBA history and among the greatest pound-for-pound with his game-changing shooting ability.

A taller Curry would have been a destructive force in the NBA, but there’s no guarantee he’d be the greatest shooter in NBA history if he were taller, so maybe we’ve seen the best outcome already.

Stephen Curry is excited to play with rookie Lendeborg

“Yaxel is a big body, athletic. I’m excited to see how he fits. I know he’s got the confidence he can be an impact player right away.”

Lendeborg measured in at 6’8.75″ barefoot and 241 pounds, with a 7’3.25″ wingspan and 9’0.5″ standing reach at the 2026 NBA Draft Combine, with the 24-year-old forward out of Michigan considered one of the most NBA-ready prospects in this year’s draft.

The rookie will have his locker right next to Curry in the 2026-27 season, so the franchise is hoping the pair can develop a mentor-mentee relationship that helps the Warriors win games next season.

Lendeborg will be a key frontcourt contributor, likely off the bench behind Draymond Green and Kristaps Porzingis.

He could earn a starting role depending on Porzingis’ health, especially now that the Warriors have also lost backup big man Quinten Post to the Memphis Grizzlies.
