Ian Wright has said on ITV (7:40pm, May 14, 2022) that he was impressed by Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in London.

The Arsenal legend and ITV pundit has praised Tsimikas for stepping up in the penalty shootout, as Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The FA Cup final between the two Premier League clubs finished goalless after extra time, and Liverpool won the penalty shootout 6-5.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount saw his spot kick saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, allowing left-back Tsimikas to subsequently score what proved to be the decisive kick.

Ian Wright on Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas in FA Cup final

Wright said on ITV (7:40pm, May 14, 2022): “Someone like Tsimikas, never scored a goal for Liverpool, he has to step up in that moment and score a goal to keep Liverpool in the hunt for four trophies is very exciting.”

In our opinion, Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas should be praised for his effort against Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

The 26-year-old Greece international left-back did not start the match and came on as a substitute.

We have to admire his cool and confidence with the penalty.

Liverpool have now won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season.

The Merseyside club still have the Premier League title and the Champions League to play for this campaign.
