While David Raya will return to North London as a European champion, one Arsenal player had a tournament to forget.
Arsenal were represented by 11 of their players at this summer’s Euro 2024, with the Gunners stars experiencing mixed success in Germany.
David Raya and his Spain teammates lifted the trophy after beating an England side that included Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale and Declan Rice in the final.
Jakub Kiwior and Kieran Tierney both booked early planes home after their group stage exits, while William Saliba, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz saw their tournaments come to an end in the knockout stages.
The latter scored two goals and registered one assist for Germany before their quarter-final defeat to Spain, but stats from the tournament show that Havertz was one of the worst performers in front of goal.

Stats show Kai Havertz was wasteful at Euro 2024
Julian Nagelsmann trusted Havertz to lead the line for his Germany side this summer but stats compiled by WhoScored suggest that he maybe shouldn’t have.
WhoScored published a list of the most wasteful forwards in the tournament based on their expected goals.
The report shows that Havertz was the second-worst out of every player with an xG underperformance of 3.11.
It means that Havertz statistically should have ended the tournament with five goals based on the chances created for him.
Only Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo performed worse in front of goal with the 39-year-old failing to find the net at all despite having 3.52 expected goals.
Kai Havertz is a worry for Arsenal next season
Arsenal lacked an out-and-out goalscorer last season and Havertz has shown that he cannot supply enough goals for club or country.
He enjoyed a strong end to the Premier League campaign and ended the season with 13 league goals but he continues to be wasteful when presented with big chances.
If Mikel Arteta and this Arsenal side are going to conquer the Premier League then they will need a forward who they can rely on to score when it matters.
